Some would say that Marco Island Beaches are the best beaches in Southwest Florida.

What is Marco Island?

As far as Florida's beach resorts go, Marco Island is first class with miles of white pristine sand.

Because of this reputation Marco Island and the Marco Island beaches are a top destination when you are looking for Florida Beach Vacations.

The Spanish originally named this island San Marco Island but as time passed it was known as Marco Island is situated just south of Naples and is the largest island in the area of Southwest Florida and extends south to Cape Sable.

Marco Island is great both for a Florida beach family vacation or a couple planning a beach wedding in Florida.

The Marco Island weather does have seasons. It is a subtropical area and there are wet seasons. The most rain fall is between the months of June and October.

Any Marco Island beach you go to are free to the public, as with most of Southwest Florida, but there are only a few locations that the public can actually access a Marco Island Beach.

Here is a video to get an overview of Marco Island. It is made by one of the property companies, but it does show Marco Island very well.

Tigertail Beach

The Tigertail Beach is set within 31 acres of natural environment.

You may enter the beach at Spinmaker Drive and Hernando Drive.

This is a very good beach as amenities include restrooms, bathhouse, five boardwalks, picnic area, a sand volleyball court, butterfly garden and even a playground. There is also a concession stand for food and drink.

If you so wish you can hire kayaks and water bikes as well as rent a cabana.

One good thing about this beach is the sandbar that itself is becoming a new barrier island called Sand Dollar Island.

There is usually plenty of parking at this Marco beach with about 210 spaces for cars. This parking is free to Collier county residents, however, visitors do have to pay. As with any parking check the cost when you plan your Florida beach vacation.

The beach is open from 8 in the morning until sunset.

Here is a good video starting off at Tigertail Beach Park.

South Collier Boulevard Marco Beach

South Collier Boulevard Marco Beach

This beach is located on South Collier boulevard.

If you are driving, there is a parking for about 70 cars. You have to have a Beach Parking Permit, or you have to pay for parking at the Master meter.

The beach is not open 24 hours, Unlike the main Naples beach. It is open from sunrise to sunset.

Keep in mind there are not facilities on this beach.

Resident's Beach

The location of this beach is at the intersection of Collier Blvd and San Marco Rd South Marco Beach and is open from 8 am until sunset.

You do have bathrooms, parking and Grass Tiki huts.

This beach is good as the city of Marco Island holds events and festivities throughout the year.

However, access to this beach is for residents only.

Nevertheless, visitors staying on Marco island can apply for a temporary permit through the city of Marco Island.

If you are going to be using this beach on your Florida family vacation, I would recommend that you find out what the present coast of this permit is before you make any final decisions.
