What is Cape Coral?

Cape Coral Beach is a Florida Gulf coast beach located in Southwest Florida.

The history of Cape Coral is not very long as it was only founded in 1957 when the first four houses were built. However, by 2010 the population had grown to 154,305, not bad going.

In fact, it is the largest city between Tampa Florida and Miami and is a large peninsula bordered in the south and east by the Caloosahatchee River (see the photo on the right).

For people planning Florida Beach Vacations, Cape Coral is probably not their first choice as there is really only one beach.

However, the city is known as a "Waterfront Wonderland". It has over 400 miles of navigable waterways and more canals than any other city in the world.

If you want to do more than lay on the beach, for your Florida beach vacation, then Cape Coral really does have a lot of other things going for it.

Here is a video that is very good showing you what there is in Cape Coral Florida.

It is quite a long video of Cape Coral made by a realty company, but is very good and well worth watching.

Cape Coral Beach

As mentioned above the only beach in Cape Coral is the strip of sand on the river down at the Yacht Club where you can fish off the pier on the Caloosahatchee River.

When you are looking at beaches in Florida for your Florida vacation, you might think is there enough to do in Cape Coral Florida?

If you are looking at Florida beach vacations for a family keep in mind that there is the very large Sun Splash Water Park that children have a brilliant time at.

There are 30 other recreational parks in the area, and you are close to the Florida Gulf Coast Beaches of Sanibel Island and Fort Myers.

If you happen to be into bird watching or wildlife the Cape Coral could well be your choice, as several parks and ecological preserves allow you to watch the local wildlife.

Before you decide on Cape Coral why not have a look at this video.

It is a very short video of showing Cape Coral beach only.

What's The Weather Like?

We have already said that Cape Coral gets, on average, 355 days sunshine a year. However, they are not saying that the sun shines for 24 hours a day.

There is about 145 days a year where it does rain for part of the day, so you only have sunshine part of the day.

Most of the rain comes between May to September, then the rains are heavy but over very quick.

If you decide to go to Cape Coral on your vacation, I am sure it will be one of the best vacations that you have.
