As far as Florida beach resorts go, the beach at Boca Grande is great and is known for its sugar sand beaches.
If you like to fish you will love it, and if you are into shelling you will love it even more.

What is Gasparilla Island Florida?
Gasparilla Island is a Florida beach resort and one of the south west Florida beaches that is unspoiled and mainly left in its natural state.
It was named after the pirate José Gaspar and tourists really started coming here in the early part of the 20th century.
The main town on Boca Grande which is enchanting and authentic and the Boca Grande beach is known for its blue water as well as its sugar sand beaches.
Oh, just a word of warning, as I found out, there are no gas stations in Boca Grande so make sure you have enough gas.
What is amusing is that a lot of the residents use golf carts as a mode of transport.
It, also, has some of the best Florida beaches for shelling.

Gasparilla Island State Park
When you look at beach vacations in Florida, and you decide you are going here, we have to tell you about the State Park there, as a lot of the beaches are within the park itself.
If you go just south of Boca Grande on you will find the park. It is off Charlotte Harbor and Pine Island Sound.
It is a great park for going on your Florida beach vacation.
Besides the beaches and swimming, you can fish, do shelling, snorkeling, have a picnic and enjoy the scenery. Make sure you have a look at the Boca Grande Lighthouse while you are there.
As mentioned the beaches and area are unspoiled and there is a vast amount of wildlife in the State Park.
You may be able to see a Bald Eagle, West Indian Manatee, Gopher Tortoise, Osprey, Least Tern, Royal Tern, Sandwich Tern, and Black Skimmer.
The park is not free if you drive in, either with a car or golf cart it is $3.00, you can save money by walking in or riding a bike than the admission is $2.00.
Please be aware that these prices can change so if you like check before you go.
There are amenities for picnics with covered tables, parking, of course you have your great southwest Florida beaches. At the Boca Grande Lighthouse, you have a gift shop.
The Park is open from 8:00 am until sundown year round. However, the Light House is from 10:00am – 4:00pm Monday - Saturday, and 12:00pm – 4:00pm on Sundays but double check the hours prior to going as they can change.
