What is Bonita Springs?

Bonita Springs itself is located on the Gulf of Mexico and the Estero Bay. It is south of Fort Myers and just north of Naples.

It seems a very affluent community as you look at the beach front homes built among the palm trees.

You may know that, if you have been on any Florida beach vacations before, Florida has a tropical climate.

It is widely assumed that all of Florida has this climate. However, this is not the case. When you go on your Florida gulf coast vacation you will see this if you go north of Bonita Springs.

Bonita Springs is the northern most Florida gulf coast beach resort that has a tropical climate. The average temperature in January is 65 °F (18 °C). By contrast just North at Fort Myers Beach Florida, the average temperature is 64 °F (18 °C), which means you are now going into a subtropical climate.

Once again, the claim is made from this area that they have the most beautiful and best beaches in Florida. There are miles of white pristine sand, but most of your Florida beach resorts will make the same claim.

So really it will come down to what you require on your Florida Beach Vacation and the facilities that are there.

Family beach vacations could require a complete different sitting than a couple or people coming to attend a Florida beach wedding.

I would say of all the southwest Florida beaches it is very non commercial.

Bonita Beach

Bonita Beach Florida, itself, is located on Little Hickory Island, which is accessible by road. This area is referred to as Bonita Beach.

As far as Florida Gulf Beaches go, Bonita Beach Park is another favorite when people visit Florida.

Bonita Beach Park is a 2.5 beach front park that has a boardwalk and swimming area. If you are into Florida beach resorts where you can have picnics then it has 8 picnic shelters.

If you are wondering, how to get access to these Southwest Florida beaches, there are 10 accesses with public parking located up and down Bonita Beach. However, they do fill up quite fast on weekends.

The beaches do have a lot of shells so you may feel more comfortable wearing your flip flops.

Have a look at a very good video for Bonita Springs Florida.

Barefoot Beach

In this area, you have Barefoot Beach. It is also on Little Hickory Island and part of Barefoot Beach Preserve Park of some 342 acres.

It is one of the last undeveloped barrier islands on Florida's southwest coast.

There is plenty of parking for this beach, and it is not very far from the car to Barefoot beach.

If you are lucky enough to be there at the right time you may see sea turtles and wading birds.

There are facilities as you come into the entrance to the beach park, clean restrooms and a cafe where the selection of food and drinks is not to bad. This is where most of your tourists tend to stay.

If you are feeling the stress there probably isn't a better Florida beach to get rid of it.

They have beautiful sunsets in Florida, and this is one of the best places to see this.

Lover's Key

Lover's Key State Park is Florida state park made up of four barrier islands and is just north of Bonita Beach.

If you are into nature trails that you can hike or do some bicycling on it is great.

There is also a canoe launch, and you can rent canoes and kayaks at this Florida beach vacation site.

It is a haven for wildlife, and is the home to West Indian Manatees, bottlenose dolphins, roseate spoonbills, marsh rabbits and bald eagles.

What About A Beach For The Dog?

There is a small pet friendly beach for dogs, just after Lovers Key Park on Estero Island.

Lots of dogs seem to be having a really good time.

There is a small part of the area that is for dogs, and at low tide it is quite pleasing. As the name implies it is a beach for dogs, and you will see owners walking their dogs, large and small both will be off their lease.

I would say don't go barefoot on this part of the beach.

To sum up, the above three areas I would say the main purpose of this site is Florida Beach Vacations, and there are miles of pristine beaches to enjoy your Florida beach vacation and holiday.

A few more pictures!

We started with a sunrise let's end with a sunset.
